Choose where you want to write
Place the cursor in your text field. Press your configurable shortcut, or use the app’s microphone control, to start dictating.
Finish and review your text
Press the shortcut again to stop. The finished text is inserted when the app allows it, and remains available to copy if you need it.

What is AI dictation software?
AI dictation turns speech from your microphone into written text. WhisperUI Desktop lets you start with a shortcut, speak, and insert the finished text into the app where you are working. Optional cloud cleanup improves punctuation and removes fillers and accidental repetitions.
Does WhisperUI support voice typing on Mac and Windows?
Yes. Dictation is part of the WhisperUI desktop app for macOS and Windows. Allow microphone access, complete the platform permission setup, and choose your dictation shortcut. Linux support is planned and is not available as a released desktop version yet.
How much cloud dictation is included?
Starter includes 500 cloud dictation minutes each month. Pro includes 3,000 cloud dictation minutes each month. The allowance is shared by your team and is separate from cloud file transcription and meeting recording. Local dictation does not use these minutes.
Is local dictation unlimited?
Yes, local dictation is unlimited with a valid paid desktop license. Download a local speech model first, then audio is processed on your computer. Local speed depends on your hardware and chosen model. Cloud dictation needs an internet connection.
Can I use dictation in email, documents and other apps?
Place your cursor in a text field, use your dictation shortcut, and speak. Press the shortcut again to finish. Some apps restrict automatic insertion; your finished text remains available to copy and paste manually. Dictation inserts text without automatically sending a message.
Can I keep my original wording?
Yes. Cloud cleanup is optional and starts turned off. Leave it off for a direct transcript, or enable it to tidy punctuation, fillers and spoken corrections. The goal is to preserve your language and meaning.
Where does my dictated audio and text go?
Local dictation processes audio on your computer. Cloud dictation uses DeepInfra for speech recognition and optional cleanup. WhisperUI does not save dictation audio. Cloud results are private to your account and expire after five minutes. You can keep local text history for 30 days, delete it after 24 hours, or turn history off.
